Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is an 80/20 funding partnership between the Province of Alberta and the Town of Westlock, Westlock County and the Village of Clyde.

    Services Available:

    1. Information and Referral

    Information is provided and/or referrals are made regarding local and external programs and Services.

    1. Seniors Outreach

    1. Income Support

    Assistance is provided to complete forms for Provincial and Federal Income Support Programs.

    1. Day Excursions

    Excursions are coordinated for residents to interact and enjoy nearby destinations.

    1. Home Support

    Services are available to assist with routine housekeeping duties for clients with disabilities, elderly, chronically ill or suffering from short term illness.

    Information is included in the volunteer section following for individuals interested in volunteering with these programs.*

    1. Income Tax

    Volunteers assist low income individuals, families and seniors with completing basic tax returns at no charge.

    1. Meals on Wheels

    In partnership with Pembina Lodge, volunteers deliver nutritional meals to seniors/disabled residents who are unable to provide adequate meals for themselves.

    1. Transportation

    Volunteer drivers provide transportation for medical appointments in the City of Edmonton, City of St. Albert and the Town of Barrhead.

    1. Family Support

    1. Family School Liaison

    In partnership with Pembina Hills Regional Division, FSL workers are in the schools to provide supportive counselling to children and their families experiencing difficulties either at home or in school.

    1. Diversion

    In partnership with Child and Family Services, a Diversion Worker
    provides support to families in an effort to reduce the need for formal intervention and mandated child protection involvement.

    1. Caring for Kids

    With generous community donations, FCSS coordinates the payment of emergent /extraordinary expenses for kids and families.

    1. Coats for Kids/Families

    Winter clothing donations for all ages are accepted and are available to community residents in need.

    1. Santa’s Anonymous*

    The annual Santa’s Anonymous campaign is coordinated for community residents based on
    income levels.

     Volunteer Opportunities:

    Interested individuals are always welcome to volunteer with a variety of our programs and services. Take a look at the following programs and call us if you are interested in getting involved!

    1. Community Volunteer Income Tax Program

    Volunteers assist low income individuals, families and seniors with completing basic tax returns at no charge.This national program includes training for volunteers to provide this service.

    Interested community individuals are welcome to join the Coalition to help ensure every child in our communities has a positive early childhood development.

    1. Local Emergency Response

    Volunteers are needed to assist in the coordination of needs for evacuees using the services of a Reception Centre. Duties can include:

    • registering evacuees
    • arranging for clothing, food or accommodations
    • assisting with medical needs
    • helping with pet care
    1. Local Events

    FCSS organizes or supports several community events. Volunteers can help in many ways:

    • Light Up Parade – volunteers help to assemble and distribute treat bags
    • Senior’s Conference
    • Family Day
    • Women’s Conference
