Charis Aguirre

Charis Aguirre is the current Mayor of our beautiful Village of Clyde. She started on Village council in the fall of 2021 as councilor and was promptly voted in as Mayor, serving all four years in this position.
Charis loves to serve the community. She has enjoyed learning the ins and outs of municipal politics, serving the Village and the Westlock region on various committees and projects over the last four years.
Charis is a Wife and Mother, a Musician and Business owner. She loves to volunteer whether it is in her municipal role, the community, with her faith community and beyond.
Her vision is to see Clyde become its best version. She says, “Our village has so much to offer and so much potential as we look at the future of our community.”
After living in the community for over 11 years, and the Westlock region for over 33 years, she sees Clyde as a hidden gem. She is proud of our community and sees herself as a voice for our Village in the greater region. She encourages any residents to connect with her to share their thoughts about the direction of the Village of Clyde.

My name is Mike, I'm married with two children, both under three years old. My family and I have lived in Clyde for over a year now. My wife and I grew up in small towns in the Okanagan. We loved the rural life so much, we knew we wanted to live in a smaller town/village. That's when we found our new home in Clyde, and we love it here. This town has made us feel so welcome, from neighbors lending us a lawnmower when we moved in, helping us around the house, even babysitting our son while our daughter was being born at home.
This village truly is a lovely community, and I want to give back. I've always enjoyed helping people. When I heard about the opportunity for Village Council, I knew that was a way I could help. As Council member I always believed they should be someone that truly is a public servant. The residents are the council’s employer and I'll do everything to ensure my employer is happy with my work, if you choose to elect me.

My family has some fun ideas for this town, one that we did and surprised everyone was the Christmas lights on the firetruck on Christmas Eve, that tradition we are planning on continuing.
Over the next little while, I plan on talking to the residents of Clyde and asking them what they like and dislike, and concerns you have about the village, I look forward meeting many of you.
Have a great day,
Michael Gledhill-Morris
